Lorene M. (Sloan) Carter, 85, Springfield, passed away Saturday, June 25, 2016 in her home. She was born December 23, 1930 in Swedeborg, Missouri, the daughter of Clell and Frona (Davis) Sloan.

Lorene loved to do hand crafts, go antique shopping, and to garage sales.  She loved to be with her family & friends.  She was a member of South Haven Baptist church for 55 years.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Robert Carter; and her brothers, Wayne Sloan and LeRoy Sloan.

Lorene is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Crystal and Jerry Ramos; a brother and his wife, Steve and Cheryl Sloan; a sister, Willow Johnson; sister-in-law, Joyce Sloan; brother-in-law and his wife, Arlie and Helen Carter; sisters-in-law, Vivian Thompson and her husband, Yarol; and Erma Hance; step-granddaughter and her husband, Robin and Roy Napper; and step-great-grandchildren, Justin Napper and Josh Napper and wife, Stephanie.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 28, 2016 in Gorman-Scharpf Brentwood Chapel with the Reverend Ryan Palmer officiating. Graveside services will follow at 3:30 p.m. in Clifty Cemetery, Dixon, MO. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday in the funeral home.
