Obituary

Loran Terrell McDanield, 94, passed away at his home in Fair Grove, Missouri on Monday, November 21, 2022. He was born July 27, 1928 to Georgia Mercedes (Thomas) McDanield in St. Paul, Minnesota. His mother later married Friend Bosser "Boss" Greene, and he was raised in Eminence, Missouri. He graduated from the Eminence High School May 1946. Then in June 1946, he obtained a waiver and was inducted the U. S. Army at the age of 17.
Loran was assigned to the Provost Marshall of Fort Lewis Washington as Prisoner Transport after basics. He later spent eighteen months on an island off Panama during World War II with the Transportation Corps 507th Battalion Puerto Rican Co. Administrator. He was then released from the service under the newly formed Reserve program. He then went and studied at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri until he was called back to duty during the start of the Korean War where his duty station was at Fort Riley, Kansas training recruits. He was with the 10th Infantry Division as Training and Induction Administrator.  He was a very proud American and loved sharing and recognizing others currently serving and fellow veterans. He also made sure that he took the time to vote even when his health was failing.

Loran married Wanda Gayleen Hall on November 5, 1955 in Wichita, Kansas. To this union three children were born; Pamela, Dawn Marie and Michael Terry. Loran was the Branch Manager of Forslunds Pump and Machinery in Wichita when he was promoted and transferred to the Kansas City office as the Vice President. He then went to work for Cullum and Brown as the Vice President. He later opened the Cullum and Brown Office in 1994. When he retired, he and wife, made their home in Fair Grove.

He loved his family. He enjoyed taking vacation trips with his family to many different destinations. For the last two decades, he spent a week in Eminence during the summer, where more and more family members came to gather over the years. He would check in with the locals and share his stories. He also loved watching his great grandchildren when he could in their various activities from bowling, programs, soccer and more. If he couldn't be there in person, he would watch on Facebook Live, videos or look at all the photos that were shared by his family. He would print those photos and share them with others.

Loran was preceded in death by his wife, Wanda; his parents, his brother, Michael Anthony McDanield; his son, Michael Terry McDanield, his great-grandchildren, Nicholas and Nathan Hall and Lily Froistad.

Loran is survived by his daughters, Pamela (Lee) Miller of Olathe, Kansas and daughter, Dawn (Mike) Hall of McCook, NE; his sister, Nancy (Edward) Wood of Springfield, Missouri; grandchildren, Jenica (Ben) Barker of Paola, Kansas; Quentin Miller of Wichita, Kansas; Zach (Josie) Hall of Danbury, Nebraska; Jessica (Joe) Froistad of Omaha, Nebraska; Matt (Jennifer) Hall of McCook, Nebraska and great-grandchildren Aleena, Rowan, Ellie, Brady, Emily and soon-to-be Baby Hall. Numerous Nieces and Nephews.

We would like to send a thank you to the Fair Grove Senior Center (Jennifer Parker) for assisting us, so he could vote in the last election. That meant the world to him.
