She attended grade school in Sedalia, and graduated from Smith Cotton High School in Sedalia in 1943. After high school, she graduated from Sedalia Business College, and then during World War 2, Lois worked for Quartermaster Depot in Kansas City, MO., and after the war was employed with the Federal Internal Revenue Service in Kansas City. Lois married her husband, Edward Schmidt, on August 15, 1948 at Unity Village, Kansas City, MO. Ed was attending Architectural School at the University of Kansas. Lois was preceded in death by her parents, Elton Bryan Bohon (passed away in a gas explosion in 1939) and Elsie Bohon (Leiter) (1980); and one brother Cecil Bryan Bohon in 2012. Lois is survived by her husband, Edward Wayne "Ed" Schmidt; a son, David Edward Schmidt and his wife Lisa, of Springfield, MO; granddaughters, Stephanie Mandrell and her husband Steven, and Leah Schmidt. Lois was fortunate enough to have lived to see her oldest granddaughter marry, and her youngest to graduate from Nursing School.
