Lloyd Lanier Schultz, 87, Springfield, died Sunday, December 23, 2012, in Springfield, Mo. He was born October 30, 1925, in Houston, TX. Lloyd was the son of Emil and Emma Schultz. Lloyd was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. He enlisted in the Army in 1943 and served in Europe during World War II. Following his return to the United States, Lloyd married Bonnie June Peters on December 13, 1947. Lloyd and Bonnie settled in Springfield, MO., where Lloyd worked for the Lilly Tulip Corporation and was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church family. Lloyd was a selfless friend who was always willing to lend a helping hand to others, whether it was yard work, a building project, or simply giving someone a ride. He loved sharing jokes with others and had an infectious smile. His life was an expression of his love of faith, family and friends. Lloyd is survived by his wife, Bonnie; siblings, Ervin and Dorothy, Houston, TX; son, Paul; daughter-in-law, Janice; two grandsons, Andrew and wife, Kamille, and Jeffrey, St. Louis, MO.; two granddaughters, Kathleen Gaither and husband, Josh, and Madalyn and fiancé, Adam Breshears; and great-grandchildren, Abigail, Nora, Maggie, Anna, and Sterling. Lloyd is predeceased by his parents; siblings, Elaine and Ruth; and son, Mark. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, December 27, 2012, in Trinity Lutheran Church with Pastor William R. Marler officiating. Burial will follow in Morgan Lutheran Cemetery, Morgan, Mo. Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, December 26, 2012, in Gorman-Scharpf Brentwood Chapel. In lieu of flowers and gifts, the family requests memorial contributions to Trinity Lutheran Church, Springfield, Mo., for the Mark E. Schultz Memorial Scholarship Fund.
