Lloyd William Ellison, 94, of Springfield MO died Sunday, Feb 17, 2013. Memorial services will be at 11 am on Mar 2 at Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home in Springfield MO. Lloyd is survived by his wife, Ruby of Springfield; dau,Wendy (David) Stryker of Asheville NC; son, Dave (Vera) Ellison of Lake Ridge VA; 2 grandsons, Eric(Cheryl) Owen of Newport News VA & Brig (Kim) Owen of Lakeville MN; & 5 great grand-children (Harley, Kelly, Rylie, Avery & Bennett). Lloyd was born Oct 16, 1918 in Mount Vernon, IA to Harvey/Eldora Ellison. He was a 1937 graduate of Mount Vernon High School and a 1941 graduate of Cornell College. Lloyd served on the USS Leonard Wood in the South Pacific during WWII. After the war, he settled in Mount Vernon IA to raise his family. Upon retirement, he moved to Branson then relocated to Springfield in 1996. He was a 50 year member of the Masonic Lodge & the El Kahir Shrine. Lloyd was also a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Shriners' Hospital for Sick Children St. Louis MO or Mercy Hospice in Springfield MO.
