Obituary

Linda Lee Van Cleave Schooler was born November 15, 1940, in Kansas City, Missouri.  Her parents were Earl and Georgia Van Cleave.

Linda married Don at 18 years old.  They went to college at Northwest Missouri State University. After college, Linda worked as a bookkeeper and at State Farm.  In their early years together, Don and Linda enjoyed going to Colorado with dear family friends, playing cards, and attending banking dinners. They had many great stories about playing jokes on one another and all of the good times they had in Brookfield.

Linda had her first two children in Brookfield Mo, Alexis and Chandler. In 1973, they moved to Springfield, Mo, and later had their 3rd child, Abby.

In Springfield, Linda was an owner of Springfield Junior Cotillion and helped Don grow his successful banking business. Linda and Don joined First and Calvary Church and Linda became very active in the church. She belonged to many church groups, including ChristCare, Mary/Martha Circle, Binnie Clements Guild, and the McClung Sunday School Class.

Linda was loved by many friends outside of church, too.  Her friends were a big part of her life.  She loved hosting friends and going out to lunch and dinner.  She also loved visiting her sisters, cooking family dinners, attending yoga class at the YMCA, working in the yard, and needlepointing with her Knit Wits group.

Linda also enjoyed spending time with her grandkids.  The grandkids would say that she always made sure they had "educational time" at Mimi's house, along with baking and teaching them card games. The grandkids loved going to Mimi and Poppy's house.

Linda was married to Don for 63 years.  After 10 months without him, she joined him again in heaven. Toward her final weeks, she would say, "I know he's waiting for me to get there, so he can take care of me."

Linda is survived by her sisters Patty Lamport and Marcia Donnelly and their husbands and children; her daughter, Alexis Schooler Childs and husband Jeff Childs; and their children Hannah Grace Childs, 25, and Jake Lloyd Childs, 22; her son, Chandler Cornelison Schooler; his children William Maxwell Schooler, 23, and his family, Sydney George, and their baby Kynedi; and Mathew Rockford Schooler, 15; her daughter, Abby Schooler Morrison and husband Oakland Morrison, and their children Oakland Wayne Morrison, 17, Judson William Morrison, 15, Whit Noah Morrison, 9. As well as several extended family members.

Any donations on Linda's behalf can be made to Care To Learn - Springfield Chapter, or First and Calvary Church.
