Linda Jean McHaney, daughter of Kenneth and Lorayne Bowenschulte, was born July 31, 1949, in St. Louis, Missouri. She peacefully departed this life Wednesday, June 3, 2009, after a brief illness, in Barnes Hospital, St. Louis. Linda graduated from Nernix High School, in St. Louis, in 1967, and moved to Springfield, Missouri, where she worked initially at Woolsey Fisher Law Firm. She was the legal secretary of Dennis Sheppard, and in 1991, followed him to Springfield Remanufacturing Company. She assumed many other responsibilities there, but continued to work with Dennis over the next 18 years. The family wishes to thank Dennis as well as the SRC family for all that they have done throughout the years as well as during her illness. Linda was preceded in death by both her parents and grandparents. She is survived by her son, Brian of Springfield; her brother, Bruce Bowenschulte and his wife, Denise of Jacksonville, Florida, and their three children, Aaron, Sarah and Adam; her brother, Brad Bowenschulte M.D. and his wife, Kristy of Springfield, Missouri, and their three children, Tyler, Brandon and Justin; as well as a host of other dear friends who had the pleasure of knowing her. Linda had made her profession of faith in Christ and was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church. A mass of Christian burial will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, June 6, 2009, in Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 2818 E. Bennett St., with Father Fergus Monaghan as celebrant. As per her wishes, her remains will be cremated under the direction of Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home. The family will receive visitors to celebrate Linda at Venice at the Sevelle, 216 E. Walnut St., immediately following the mass. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Champion Athletes of the Ozarks, 3433-0 S. Campbell, Springfield, MO 65807.
