Springfield – Linda Mae Buffington was born on December 8 ^th , 1939 in Kansas City, MO and passed away on Thursday June 16 ^th , 2022.  She was the child of Orville and Francis Nicholson. Her paternal grandparents were Peter and Bell Nicholson, and her maternal grandparents were William and Maude Douglas.

Linda graduated from Southwest Missouri State University where she met her husband Bill Buffington whom she was married to for 56 years.  She was an elementary, jr. high, high school, and college music teacher.  She absolutely loved being a teacher and loved her students as well.  She taught and lived in Highland KS for 17 years where she was a devoted member of the Highland Christian Church.  Each year everyone looked forward to her singing "O Holy Night" at Christmas at the church.  She then lived and taught in Lincoln Il until her retirement in 2005.  She enjoyed being a member and part of the Asbury Church family until her passing.

She is survived by her two sons, Gregg Buffington and his wife, Diane and Jonathon Buffington and his wife Rebecca; two granddaughters, Ashton Morgans and Tiffany Morgans; two grandsons, Matthew Hasek and Andrew Hasek; brother Larry Nicholson and his wife Pat, niece Tammy Atteberry and nephew Terry Nicholson, as well as several great-nieces and nephews, former students, and her Asbury Church family.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 22, 2022, in Asbury United Methodist Church, under the care of Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home.  Burial will follow in Charity Christian Cemetery, Dallas County, MO.  Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday in the funeral home.  Memorial donations may be made to Asbury UMC Youth fund, or Asbury UMC Music Department.
