Lillie Rose Mammorella, 97, Springfield passed away peacefully Monday, September 8th, 2025, in her home at Castlewood Memory Care Unit surrounded with family. She was born January 7th, 1928, in Chester, Pennsylvania to Pasquale and Jessie Papi
Lillie graduated from Chester High School in 1946 and went to work as a Typist for Westinghouse.
She met the love of her life and married Edward Paul Mammorella in Chester PA on April 10th, 1948. Lillie is survived by her 5 children John Joseph Mammorella, Paul Edward Mammorella and William Stephen Mammorella all of Springfield, MO. Nancy Ann Mammorella of Sparks, NV and Denise Marie Findley of Santa Rose Beach, FL. She has 7 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.
Ed went to work for the U. S. Federal Bureau of Prisons in 1950, and Lillie was his partner, as she took care of the house and the 5 kids. Lillie was very active in all their interests from sporting events to school activities. During this time, they lived in Ashland KY, Huntington WV, Washington DC, Atlanta GA, El Paso TX, Leavenworth KS, Tallahassee FL, and Springfield MO.
Lillie and Ed retired to Port Charlotte FL in 1978, and she went to work for Sun Bank, She worked in sales and was one of their top producers until her retirement in 1993. For the next several years Ed and Lillie enjoyed traveling to Italy, Hawaii and throughout the Continental United States until Ed was diagnosed with Alzheimer's.
Lillie moved back to Springfield MO in 2005 where she cared for him until his passing in 2006. Lillie was able to resume her travel and spent vacations in Italy and throughout the United States.
In 2020 Lillie moved into Castlewood Memory Care in Nixa, MO. Lillie was the life of the party in her new home. She met many new friends and enjoyed frequent excursions with them. From scenic drives in the country, trips to Andy's Frozen Custard and Pineapple Whip. She especially enjoyed reading to the other residents, every other Thursdays from 3-4pm was Reading with Lillie.
Lillie lived a full life and had an impact on all she met. She was a lifelong member of the Roman Catholic Church.
The celebration of life will be held on September 24th 6-7pm at Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home at 1947 East Seminole Springfield, MO. Memorial Mass will be held Thursday September 25th 12:30 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Missouri Veterans Cemetery at 2pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
