Lillian V. (Graham) Scott, 85, of Springfield, Missouri was called home by the Lord on Tuesday, June 15, 2021 surrounded by her family. She was born November 18,1935 in Marietta, Texas to the late Butler Graham and Sallie K. Casteel (Graham) Jack. She lived with her grandparents until she move to Shreveport, LA to live with her mother and step-father, Willie Jack, Sr.
She graduated from Booker T. Washington High School in Shreveport. She also attended Grambling College and the Continuing Ed at Drury College.
She joined the Women's Army Corp in 1954 and served two years. She met the love of her life, M/Sgt. Hollis B. Scott at Fr. Belvoir, VA and they were married on August 4, 1954.
They traveled to places such as Hong Kong, Guam, Okinawa and the Philippines to name a few where they met many acquaintances. They returned to the States and were stationed at Ft. Leonard Wood, MO. After her husband's retirement they relocated to Springfield, MO.
Lillian joined the Washington Avenue Baptist Church (now Turning Point) and was very active in many organizations of the church, such as being instrumental in getting the Elect Lady Circle started, serving in the WMU in many capacities and the Treasurer of the church for over 26 years. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Stars for over 50 years. She belonged to Greater Truth Chapter #88, OES, Springfield, MO. She aspired to e Grand Worthy Matron of Harmony Grand Chapter and was elected in 2000. She worked many years for the U.S. Government, and then for the Springfield R-12 School District until she retired in 1998.
She enjoyed her retirement by traveling, working in her church, volunteering for Crosslines for over 20 years and her family, especially her two grandchildren, Jazmine and Savon, whom she loved and adored also her other family member and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded her in death by her beloved husband, Hollis B. Scott.
Lillian leaves to celebrate her home going a son, Theron Scott of Independence, MO; God-son, Darrie M. Brown of Portsmouth, VA; grandchildren, Jazmine Brown and husband, Matthew of Springfield, MO and Savon Scott of Topeka, KS; great-granddaughter, Vivian Brown and a future great-grandson; brothers, George Jack and wife, Mary of Lansing, MI, Willie, Jr. of Shreveport, LA; sisters, Willie Mae Wilburn of Grand Rapids, MI, and Mary Ann Jack of Capitol Heights, MD and many other relatives, friends and acquaintances.
Visitation will be held Monday, June 21, 2021 from 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM in Turning Point Baptist Church followed by funeral service at 11:00 AM. Burial will be in Missouri Veterans Cemetery at 2:00 PM.
