Obituary

Leroy Copelin of Nixa, MO, went to be with our Lord on March 27, 2016. He was born on July 27, 1930 to Claude and Bertha Copelin at Longrun, MO. On November 6, 1950 he married his sweetheart Bonnie Myers. Leroy worked for the Springfield Parks for 32 years and retired as a maintenance shop foreman. He loved to deer and turkey hunt and fish. For many years before moving from Ozark County to Springfield he helped build Bull Shoals Lake and guided fishing parties. He was a member of Springfield First General Baptist Church.

Leroy is survived by his wife of 65 years, Bonnie Copelin of the home; one son Dan Copelin and wife Lynn of Springfield; one daughter Sue Murray and husband Randy of Springfield; three grandchildren, Chris Murray and wife Jessica of Springfield, Danielle Copelin of Springfield, and Wes Copelin of Oak Grove, KY; and four great-grandchildren, Adia, Talon, and Ben Murray of Springfield, and Gabby Copelin of Springfield.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 2, 2016 at 11:00 am at Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home, with Rev. Jamie Bilyeu officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 am until the time of service. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery. The family wishes to thank all the people and nurses from Hospice for their support and kindness during Leroy's illness.
