Leonard Jake Myers passed away September 14, 2015 at Ozark Riverview Manor. He was born January 21, 1916 in Granada, Douglas County, Missouri to Thomas Elliott Myers and Naomi Delena (Pruitt) Myers. On May 28, 1943 he married the love of his life, D. Fern Elliott. To this union two daughters were born. He served in the Army during WWII and was assigned to the 3761st Quartermaster Truck Company and was sent to Okinawa in the Pacific War. After WWII, he returned to Missouri, farmed for a time in Douglas County and then moved with the family to Springfield, MO in 1952 and worked for Montgomery GMC as a Diesel Mechanic for 25 years. In 1968 Leonard and Fern moved to Ozark, Missouri where he enjoyed farming and raising cattle. Leonard was a Charter member of the VFW in Ozark. His parents, two brothers, Roby and Dave Myers and one sister, Lola Edwards preceded him in death. He is survived by one sister Hazel Davis, Nixa, MO; one sister-in-law, Norma Elliott Gray, Tucson, AZ; his daughters, Sue Walker and her husband John, Ozark, MO and Marcie Crandall and her husband Don, Linn Creek, MO; four grandchildren, Jeff Walker (Shelley), Keller, TX, Tara Stabile (Andy), Hermosa Beach, CA, Rev. Scott Crandall (Tammie), Lugoff, SC, Angela Mulkey (Sean), Morton, IL; 13 great-grandchildren: Sam and Kate Walker, Cole McNamara, Riley Roberts, Tate Stabile, David and Rebecca Crandall, Ariel Davis, Aleece, Connor, Aileen, Keegan and Aryn Mulkey; and several nieces and nephews. Services will be Thursday, September 17, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home. Visitation will be Thursday from 1:00 p.m. until service time at the funeral home.
