IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Leonard Allen
Manners
January 24, 1948 – July 22, 2024
Leonard Allen Manners, 76, passed away peacefully on July 22, 2024. Len was born January 24, 1948 in Astoria, Oregon, the oldest of three children of Veikko and Betty Manners. Growing up on the northwest coast he spent his time with friends duck hunting, playing #83 football, was homecoming king and was a reliable teammate in every endeavor in or off the field.
Upon graduation and college attendance, Len entered the US Navy submarine service on the first atomic sub, the Nautilus and completed tour of duty on the USS Nathaniel Greene.
Len was a warm, gentle soul, kind and supportive to all who knew him. Family was always first with weekend get togethers with his very special grandchildren. He was a big, assertive gentleman with strong helping hands to all people in need.
He was a passionate reader, Republican and NASCAR fan and he had true Finnish sisu (courageous perseverance).
Len is survived by his wife, Dorothy Lemmon Manners; children, Mariah and Cam; step-daughter, Nivin (Alan); grandchildren, Camila, Miguel, Brent, Matthew, Hannah and Helena; and sisters, Gail (John) and Margo.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, August 2, 2024 in Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project or Tunnel to Towers Foundation.
