Leonard Albert Brown passed into his heavenly home on May 3, 2012 at the Marshfield Care Center. He was born in Crane, Mo. November 19, 1921 and moved to Springfield, Mo. as an infant with his parents, Charles H. and Nell Brown. He graduated from Draughon's Business College, then enlisted into the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II. After serving in Hawaii he married Beatrice J. O'Hara on September 23, 1944. Leonard is survived by his wife of 67 years, Beatrice; son, Jim and wife Camille; daughter, Sharon Mann and husband Richard; grandchildren, Monica Morgan and husband Rod, Melanie Haldoupis and husband Petros, Sarah Lowe and husband Ricky, Jeffrey Mann and wife Selina; great-grandchildren, Makenna Morgan, Chance and Connor Koch, Taylor and Athen Haldoupis, Megan and Austin Lowe, Sierra, Savannah, Sydney and Hunter Mann, and soon to be born, "Baby" Morgan. Leonard owned the Brown Bookkeeping Business until he retired in 1984. He and his wife were charter members of two new Baptist churches, where he served as Treasurer. He was a current member of Galloway Baptist Church. He and his family did a lot of camping and fishing. Leonard and Bea did some traveling after he retired. Leonard was a faithful St. Louis Cardinal fan. He was a loving husband and father, and was devoted to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the church or charity of your choice. Visitation will be Monday at 9 a.m. with the funeral service to follow at 9:45 a.m. in Gorman-Scharpf Brentwood Chapel. Interment will follow at Missouri Veterans Cemetery.
