Megee

Leo "Pat" Megee died on October 4, 2018 in Springfield, Missouri due to complications during a medical procedure. He was 94.
Leo was born on April 6, 1924 in Gassville, AR to his parents, Johnny and Edna Megee. He volunteered into the Army Air Corps at the age of 18 with his older brother serving two and a half years with the 303rd Bomber Squadron (The Hell's Angels) in England. He returned home and later obtained his GED. He also rediscovered Mary Jo Mace, who really didn't like him before he left for England, but eventually won her heart. They were married on February 16, 1946.
He found his work home with the Army Corps of Engineers in1946 starting work at Norfork and Bull Shoals Lakes but landing his final position as Reservoir Manager of Table Rock Lake in 1958. He had the honor of being selected as one of President Kennedy's escape routes during the dedication of Greers Ferry Dam in 1963. When asked what his job description was, he said it was "To tell someone the thing they most do not want to hear in a way they can hear it". He retired from the Corps in 1979 at the age of 55 and immediately started a second career in Real Estate.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting and watching his family grow. He served as a deacon at University Heights Baptist Church.
Leo is survived by his wife, Mary Jo Megee of the home, by his son, John, his daughter-in-law Cathy, his granddaughter Alicia, his grandson Travis and wife Justine, his two great granddaughters, Claire and Emily and cousin, Cathy Harned of Wichita, Kansas. He is also survived by his brother Leonard, his sister Betty Jo and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be Monday, October the 8th from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home with a Celebration of Life service on Tuesday, October 9th at 10:00 a.m. at University Heights Baptist Church. Burial will be at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery on Thursday, October 11th at 2:00 p.m.
Memorial Contributions may be made to the University Heights Foundation or the Nursing Scholarship Fund at Cox Medical Center.
