Lena Sara (Massad) Hagale, age 87, of Springfield, Mo., passed away Monday, January 18 in her home. She was born on September 2, 1922 to Joseph and Foutha (Mathey) Massad in Beggs, Oklahoma. She was preceded in death by John T. Hagale, her husband of nearly 47 years. Lena was primarily a dedicated homemaker, but spent a portion of her time as a Vanda Beauty Counselor Representative over the years. Prior to her marriage, she worked at Jenkins Music store in Tulsa, Okla., for several years. She was very knowledgeable of all the current recording artists and took great pride in her work. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, church activities, singing in the choir, and making new friends. Wherever she went, Lena could strike up a conversation at a moment's notice. She was very devoted to her Catholic faith and worked in later years as a local ambassador for the Eternal Word Television Network. Lena was also very proud of her Lebanese heritage as evidenced by her excellent Mediterranean culinary skills and preservation of family traditions. Her life will live on through her son, his family and all her many friends and relatives. Lena is survived by her son, Tom Hagale, his wife, Katie, and two granddaughters, Elizabeth Hagale and Sara Hagale, all of Huntsville, Alabama; siblings Floyd Massad of Tulsa, Okla.; Junie Jabara of Oklahoma City, Okla.; Anna Ogdee of Abilene, Texas; and Lillie Solomon of Stillwater, Okla.; and many nieces and nephews. Visitation and prayer service will be Thursday, January 21 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. in Gorman Scharpf Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be Friday, January 22 at 10 a.m. in Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Springfield, Mo. Burial will be at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Springfield.
