Lemond Helderman Jenkins (Lee), 87, of Springfield, MO passed away at home surrounded by family Wednesday, March 1, 2017.

Born May 22, 1929 in Advance, MO, Lee graduated Advance High School in 1948. He served in the Battary B 176th Armed Field Artillery Battalion in the Korean War. Soon after serving his country, he married his devoted wife of 48 years, Joan Jenkins. Lee and Joan celebrated life and spread joy with their 5 children: JoMia Root, Ranee Jenkins, Andy Jenkins, Phillip Jenkins and Tara Rayle. Lee was preceded in death by both his loving wife, Joan, and daughter Ranee.

Lee dedicated his life to his wife and family. His sales career began as a door to door salesman. By the late 1960's, he achieved the American Dream, built his own business and provided a loving home where friends and family were always welcomed. Lee's hobbies included motor-homing, golfing, "entertainment gambling" and dabbling in the stock market. A generous man, Lee graciously shared his successes with everyone around him including his children, siblings, nieces, nephews, grandchildren and neighbors --anyone needing a helping hand.

Both Visitation and Funeral Services are Monday, March 6 at Gorman Sharpf Funeral Home, 1947 E. Seminole Street, Springfield, MO, 65804. Visitation is Noon to 2 p.m. Funeral Service begins at 2 p.m. and will be officiated by Tom Fowler III. A Burial Service with Military Honors will follow at Hazelwood Cemetery, 1642 E. Seminole Street.

In lieu of flowers, contributions to the Springfield Branches of the Alzheimer's Association and the American Heart Association are encouraged and will continue the generosity Lemond H. Jenkins symbolized throughout his life.
