Obituary

Lee R. Stevens, 74, of Springfield, MO passed away of natural causes on Sunday, February 9, 2014. Lee was born in Lawrence County, OH to Mary and Willard Stevens on May 17, 1940. In 1952, he moved to Kansas City, MO where he attended North East High School. Lee served in the Air Force directly out of high school and was honorably discharged in 1959. After his service, he graduated from Mt. San Antonio College in Walnut, CA. He then returned to Kansas City where he spent the next 25 years as a senior draftsman for Howard, Needles, Tammen, & Bergendoff; designing special projects which included Greene County roadways and gas pipelines with Panhandle Eastern Pipeline Company. His career continued the next 16 years with Hallmark Corporate Office where he eventually retired. Lee had a life-long passion for restoring street rods and classic cars. He enjoyed music of the 1950's, Elvis, and watching old Western's on TV. His granddaughter, Haley Stevens, preceded Lee in death. He will be missed by his beloved wife of 43 years, Georgia Stevens; his son, Matthew and his wife LaDonna; his step-granddaughters, Erin, Ericka, and Ashley; and many nieces, nephews, and a multitude of friends. Services will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, February 14, 2014 at Hope Community Church; 2121 Blackman Road; Springfield, MO.
