Lawrence "Larry" F. Van Rhein, 74 of Springfield, Missouri passed away Sunday, August 15, 2010 in his home. He was born February 26, 1936 in St. Louis, Missouri to Louis and Mildred Van Rhein. He was the eldest of five children. On November 26, 1959 Larry married Pat Reddan and together they enjoyed fifty years of marriage. Larry graduated from St. Louis University in 1958. Following college he went to work for the Wm. J. Zickel Company where he served as Vice President for forty-three years. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, traveling, golfing and serving as a volunteer for St. John's Hospital. Larry is survived by his wife, Pat Van Rhein; six children, Peter Van Rhein and wife Carol Van Rhein, Carol Van Rhein and husband Brian Keiser, Erik Van Rhein and wife Karen Moy, Keith Van Rhein and wife Cristina Martinez, Stephen Van Rhein and Theresa Flett and Husband Eric Flett; nine grandchildren, Vincent Van Rhein, Justin Van Rhein, Timothy Van Rhein, Erin Keiser, Ian Keiser, Anna Keiser, Kevin Flett, Owen Flett and Elon Van Rhein; and one great-grandchild, Kaylee Van Rhein. Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, August 19, 2010 in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Father Lewis Hejna celebrant under the direction of Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home.
