Lawrence Gill of Springfield (formerly of Highlandville), was born December 8, 1915 to Tom and Ellen Gill. He was united in marriage to Dorothy West April 29, 1940. He retired from the Springfield School system. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and all eight of his siblings. He is survived by two sons and their wives, John and Charlotte Gill, and Tom and Jan Gill; four grandchildren; great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews. Thanks to the staff of Christian Health Care East for the care they gave him for the past six years and to Regional Hospice for the times they were there. Graveside services will be Wednesday, May 25, 2011 at 2:00 PM in Highlandville Cemetery with Rev. Gayle Cobb officiating under the care of Gorman-Scharpf Brentwood Chapel. No formal visitation is planned; however, friends may call after 1PM on Tuesday in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Ponce Pentecostal Church where he had served as a Deacon, in care of Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home, 1947 E. Seminole, Springfield, MO 65804.
