Lawrence (Larry) Eugene Correll, age 94, of Springfield, MO passed away on March 1, 2016 at home surrounded by his family. He was a member of National Avenue Christian Church in Springfield. He was preceded in death by his father, mother, sister and brother-in-law and 3 half brothers.

Larry is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Mae Etta; 3 sons, Lanford and wife Ruth, Danny and wife Crystal, Dennis and wife Deb; 2 daughters, Pat Cross, Cheryl Correll and husband Ulysses Poke along with 4 grandchildren, Courtney Stokes, Leslie Correll, Hannah and Brian Correll; and 4 great grandchildren.

A decorated WWII veteran, he served in island campaigns earning a bronze star with an oak leaf cluster and a purple heart. After early careers as an owner of poultry farms then carpentry, Larry worked at the US Medical Center for Federal Prisoners and retired as head of the carpentry shop. In retirement, he and Mae Etta enjoyed traveling, along with his yearly army reunions of the 383rd Infantry, Company E. Greatly loved by his family and friends, Larry enjoyed reading, following the St Louis Cardinals, and eagle watching.

Services will be held 10:00 am Saturday, March 5, 2016 at Gorman-Scharpf Brentwood Chapel. Burial will be in Hazelwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 pm Friday at the funeral home.
