Larry Bruce Zook, 80, of Springfield Mo, was born February 24 th , 1939 in Newton Ks and gained his angel wings on May 30 th , 2019 at Mercy Hospital in Springfield Mo.
Larry was married December 4, 1993 to Nancy Lynn Allen in Granite City, Illinois and together they celebrated 25 years. Larry had three children from a previous marriage. His son Kevin Zook lives with wife Glenda in West Plains, Mo., daughter Karla Shaver lives in Springfield, Mo and daughter Karmen Cressman lives with husband Scott in West Plains, Mo. After his union to Nancy, he lovingly gained 2 new children, Sherry Allen who lives in Springfield, Mo and David Allen who lives with wife Celina in Granite City, Ill. From these children, he was blessed to have 14 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Larry attended school in Houston Mo. He graduated with the class of 1957. He attended SMS College for one year and then joined the Air Force in 1958 where he learned his lifelong profession of being a Dental Lab Technician. Larry excelled as a dental lab technician due to his love for working with his hands and his attention to detail. He owned K-4 Dental Laboratory for 30 years and then worked for Edmonds Dental Prosthetics for 20 years as a Technical Director. He retired in 2011. He loved teaching young dentists how to properly take impressions and to fit dentures so they could provide excellent care to their patients. He took great pride in sharing his many years of experience. Larry was proud that he served on the school board of Glenwood Elementary School in West Plains for 4 years and served as a Deacon and Sunday School teacher at First Baptist Church in West Plains for many years. Larry loved RC model planes and was known for taking his time to build a plane and even handcrafted the pilots for authenticity. Many of his children and grandchildren have fond memories of going flying with him, though they often learned they were taken along on the adventure to retrieve either the launching rubber band or the crashed plane.
Larry was preceded in death by his father, Norman Zook and his mother Luverna, his brother Sheldon Zook, one nephew Sean Zook, one infant sister Leota Marie and one infant grandson.
Larry is survived by his wife, Nancy, his 5 children, his 14 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren, one brother Byron Zook and wife Susee, one sister-in-law Wilma Zook, one sister-in-law Debbie Weaver and husband Lon and many nieces and nephews.
Larry was loved for his quick wit, strong work ethic and his love for his family and friends. He will be great missed.
Funeral services will be held at 12:30 PM, Wednesday, June 5, 2019 in Gorman-Scharpf Brentwood Chapel. Burial will follow at 2:00 PM, in Missouri Veterans Cemetery. A visitation will take place from 6:00 to 8:00 PM, Tuesday, June 4, 2019 in the funeral home.
