IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Larry John
Layton Shull
December 11, 1939 – September 22, 2020
Larry John Layton Shull, 80, of Springfield, MO passed away on Tuesday, September 22, 2020, at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, MO with his wife, Connie by his side.
He was born December 11, 1939, Pierce City, MO and was the 12
th
and last child of the late Clarence and Zeta Shull. Larry was preceded in death by his son Marty Shull, his sisters: Virginia, Ruby, Lorraine, Grayce, Frances, Vivian, and brothers: Murrell and Earl Shull.
Larry graduated from Pierce City High School in 1958. He then moved to Springfield, MO and worked at the Royal Typewriter plant, but spent his spare time tinkering with cars. He had a passion for cars and opened his first car lot in 1972. He operated Larry Shull Auto Sales until 1985, when he then decided to start a residential construction company. Larry's attention to detail was seen in the classic cars he restored. One of his favorites that he restored was a luxurious 1957 Jaguar XK140 Drophead Coupe. This attention to detail carried over into his residential construction. Larry designed and built beautiful custom/spec homes in Emerald Park, Ravenwood and the surrounding Springfield and Nixa area. Larry was known for his strong work ethic, honesty, generosity, and sense of humor (and of course his dapper hair).
Larry was a long-time member of Park Crest Baptist Church in Springfield, MO.
He is survived by his beloved and devoted wife, Connie, of 56 years and his son, Tyrone Layton Shull and daughter, Tiffany Nicole Kennedy and husband Scott, his brother Brad Shull and sisters: Gaye Clifford and Joyce Simmons. He is also survived by seven grandchildren: Jeremie Yager, David Tyler, Kodie and Sterling Shull; Chandler, Alexis and Anabelle Kennedy. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, and cherished by his family. They will forever miss his warm hugs, hospitality and engaging storytelling.
The family will be holding a private celebration of his life in December.
