Larry Bryan Lathem, age 83, of Springfield Missouri passed away March 5, 2022. He was the son of William and Pearl Lathem and raised in Willard, Missouri.
He served in the US Army as a Transportation Branch Officer retiring at the rank of Lt Colonel before starting a second career as a Logistician for Martin Marietta in their Aerospace division.
Larry was a devout Christian who loved his God, his country and his family. He was a kind and quiet man who exemplified the qualities of an officer and a gentleman.
He lived throughout the United States and SE Asia during his career with the Army. He also lived on the small island of Okinawa twice. He survived two tours in the Vietnam War and was awarded the Bronze Star Medal for Valour.
He was an avid fan of sports car racing. Over the years he had driven and owned several sought after sports cars. His two favorites being the Jaguar XK-120 and Bugeye Sprite.
Larry is survived by his wife Deborah Lathem and son Craig Lathem.
There will be a closed casket ceremony at the Springfield Veterans Cemetery on Monday, March 14 th at 10:00 AM. The family will gather afterwards at the Campbell United Methodist church at 11:00 AM.
