Obituary

Larry R. Houge of Springfield, Missouri was born February 27, 1940 to R.S. and Anna Houge also of Springfield and passed from this life on August 25, 2018.

Larry was raised in Springfield, attending public school before moving to Boulder, Colorado to complete a master's degree in civil engineering.

Following school, he served as a jet pilot trainer obtaining rank of Captain in the United States Air Force for several years and enjoyed his time in the skies.  He was stationed at bases in Oklahoma, Texas, and Georgia before ending his service to return home after the death of his father.

During his service, Larry and Myra married and prior to returning home, their first son, Scott arrived while in Georgia.

Larry and Myra spent the majority of their time raising both of their sons, Scott and Todd, in Springfield where Larry also established his own engineering company. They were also active in their community at Table Rock Lake where he enjoyed spending time on the lake fishing.

A dedicated member of the fraternal brotherhood organizations including the Freemasons, Valley of Joplin Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite, Abou Ben Adhem Shriners, and the Order of the Quetzalcoatl, Larry offered his unwavering support to the children's charities they serve.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, September 4, 2018 from 5 to 7:00 p.m. in Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home.
