Larry Kerry Bridges, currently of Billings, Missouri, age 64, was born March 19, 1947 in Siloam Springs, Arkansas, son of Joe Harper and Ora Beck of Gentry, Arkansas. The ninth of eleven children, he was adopted by his mother's sister and her husband, Earl and Lillian Bridges of Cleveland, Oklahoma, who raised him as their own. Larry graduated from Cleveland HS in 1965, where he had played middle linebacker for the Cleveland Tigers football team. After graduation, he joined the United States Navy, where he served valiantly as a recon photographer on three separate tours in Vietnam. After his military service he worked as a truck driver and then later as an executive with the Teamsters Labor Union. In the Teamsters, his larger than life presence earned him the nickname "Bruno". Bruno retired from the Teamsters on April 1, 2000. Larry loved working on and restoring cars. In the 1970s and 80s he was involved in drag racing including stints as a driver and crew chief on several NHRA Pro Street and Nitro Funny Car teams. Larry is survived by his four brothers, James "Cherokee" Harper of Huntington, TX, Todd Harper of League, City, TX, Terry Lee Harper of Hesperia, CA and Dick Harper of Springfield, MO; five sisters, Patty Sue Frerking of Springfield, MO, Joanne Stokes of Los Angeles, CA, Janie Gromer of Gravois Mill, MO, Beverly Nunez of Sherman Oaks, CA and Sharon Kay Yoshimoto of Aqua Dulce, CA; three children, Anne Marie Stockdale of Portland, OR, Christopher Redeagle Bridges of Mountain View, HI and Keri Patricia Bridges of Portland, OR; four grandchildren, Kyla Christine Stockdale, Joseph Redhawk Bridges, Alexander Sequoyah Bridges and Dylan Littlewolf Bridges; one great-grandson, Donavyn Michael Malone; three ex-wives, 427 ex-girlfriends and one current special lady friend. Larry was a registered member of the Cherokee Nation of Oklahoma. Memorials may be sent to C.A.R.E., 1328-A W. Sunshine, Springfield, MO 65807. No services will be held.
