Lana Cox, age 72, passed away on Tuesday, December 18 ^th , 2018 at Cox Medical Center.

Born in Kansas City, Missouri, she spent much of her childhood in Kansas and Texas before her family settled in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan.  Lana graduated from Seaholm High School in Birmingham, Michigan in 1964. She went on to earn her BA, and later her MA, from Oakland University in elementary education. She formed many close, life-long friendships during her time in college, and had a long, successful career teaching kindergarten and first grade for the Birmingham Michigan School District. Most of her career was dedicated to the students at Pembroke Elementary School. She was loved and respected by them, and several stayed in touch with her throughout her life.

Lana loved to travel; her wanderings took her to many parts of the globe including Australia and Hawaii. After retirement, she moved to Springfield to be near her aging parents, Landrum C, and Sarah Josephine Cox nee Pennycuick, who proceed her in death. In her later years, she kept busy by breeding and showing her beloved Norwich Terriers.

Lana is survived by her sister, Carolyn Bonin, her nephew, David Bonin and numerous aunts and cousins.

They will receive family and friends Saturday, January 19, 2019 at 1:00 pm at Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home, 1947 East Seminole, Springfield, Missouri, 65804.
