Kyle LaVerne Dye 83, died peacefully on May 31, 2018 at Mercy Hospital – Springfield, Missouri. Kyle was born on March 13, 1935 in Parker, Kansas to Riley Stephen and Mary Alura Bearly Dye.
He was preceded in death by his parents and four siblings. He married Peggy Long on October 7, 1955 and enjoyed 62 ½ years of marriage. They had two children Bradford Long Dye and Jennifer Arlene McNay, and four grandchildren, Casey and Clayton Dye, and Riley and Anna McNay.
After his military service in Korea, Kyle spent his entire working career in the field of banking, ultimately retiring in 1997. He was a faithful member of Schweitzer United Methodist Church. He enjoyed many hobbies including hunting, fishing, and spending countless hours at the lake. He attained his pilot's license and loved flying small aircraft. He served as a member of the Springfield Airport Board.
Kyle's greatest joy was spending time with his family. He was so proud of his children and grandchildren and their accomplishments. He leaves behind his wife Peggy, children Brad (Christy) and Jennifer (Mark), his grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and close friends.
The family would especially like to thank Dr. Teresa Olsen for her wonderful care of Kyle over the last many years. Their appreciation for her compassionate care and comfort cannot be expressed in mere words. Additionally, the family so appreciates the care provided by the Mercy staff on 7A during Kyle's last few days.
Visitation will be held at Schweitzer United Methodist on Monday, June 11 at 10:00 a.m., followed by a celebration of life at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be at Missouri Veteran's Cemetery at 1:00 p.m. A reception for family and friends will be held at Mark & Jenny's home following the burial. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to The Schweitzer United Methodist Pantry (address 2741 E. Sunshine, Springfield, MO 65804) in Kyle's name. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home – Springfield.
