Kris Ann (Morrison) Hamilton, age 56, of Springfield, Missouri, passed away suddenly on October 11, 2015. She was surrounded by her family and friends. Kris was born on March 16, 1959 in Rolla, Missouri. She attended Marshfield and Strafford High Schools, Class of 1977. She graduated Missouri State University, earning a Bachelor's Degree in Math in 1988, and followed with a Master's Degree in Guidance and Counseling in 1992. In 1994 she began her career as a Licensed Professional Counselor, continuing until her death. She was a Member of ATSA, and was a Board Member of the Citizen's Advisory Board in Springfield for numerous years. Kris was a passionate woman who was dedicated to her belief that people are our most valuable assets. She was committed to empowering, educating, and uplifting her family, friends, colleagues and clients. Kris maintained an unyielding sense of responsibility and compassion for those she loved and cared for. This was her greatest gift. Kris was a constant advocate for children, victims, animals and people in need. She spent her time continuously searching for ways to better the lives of those she encountered along her journey. Kris avidly enjoyed live music, traveling with family and friends, and was always ready to experience her next adventure. Kris Hamilton is preceded in death by her parents, Foin Morrison and Peggy Phillips. Kris is survived by her son, Daniel Dean Hamilton; his fiancé, Corina Stockstill of Springfield, Missouri; her daughter, Dr. LeKisha Ann Hamilton of Mobile, Alabama; sister and brother-in-law, Tracy Jo and Cliff Russell of Springfield; grandsons, Elias Steven Dean Hamilton and Matthew James Pearl of Springfield; former husband, David Dean Hamilton of Fair Grove, Missouri along with extended family and many friends. A memorial service will be held at Gorman-Scharpf Brentwood Chapel at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, October 17, 2015.
