Obituary

Dr. Kobby Joseph Kobbermann, 78, of Springfield passed away Friday, June 18, 2021 in Mercy Hospital. He was born April 14, 1943 in Pittsfield, Illinois to Raymond Thomas and Grace Lenora (Sneeden) Kobbermann. The family lived in Memphis, TN and later moved to Springfield, MO in 1958. He started his freshman year at Parkview High School and graduated in 1961. He attended Drury College from 1961-1965 then attended University of Missouri School of Medicine and graduated in 1969. In 1967, Kobby met and married Roseanne "Rosie" Elizabeth Brown and they had three children. He was a Captain in the Army Reserves from 1968-1977.

Kobby chose Obstetrics and Gynecology because it was primarily the happiest of all the fields of medicine. He taught for 2 years at Mizzou and then returned to Springfield in 1974 with his family. He started an OB/GYN practice immediately with friend and colleague Phil Fogle. He had privileges at Cox North, St. John's and then Cox South Hospitals. He stayed on at St. John's Hospital/Mercy for the duration of his career and retired in 2009.

Dr. Kobbermann loved his job, his patients and co-workers. He was a man of few words and loved giving to others. He enjoyed traveling whenever he could and especially enjoyed New Orleans, Arizona and Napa Valley. When he wasn't "catching babies" Kobby had several hobbies, including stained glass, carpentry and he was quite the photographer. He collected coins, stamps, DU decoys and watches. He loved cars, cooking, fishing and shopping.

Kobby was an amazing physician, father, son and friend. He will be missed like the desert missed the rain. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Thomas Waide Kobbermann. He is survived by his children, Kelli Ann Kobbermann Rowett, Scott David Waide Kobbermann and his wife, Robin, and Kathryn Elaine Kobbermann all of Springfield; grandchildren, Karli Ann and Jack Sloan Rowett, Haydyn Shay and Riley Grace Kobbermann, as well as, several nieces, nephews and extended family.

A celebration of life will be scheduled at a later date. Please come with stories and photos to share with all of us that loved Kobby. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CARE-No Kill Animal Shelter, P. O. Box 215, Aurora, MO 65605 or Lost and Found, 1555 S. Glenstone Ave, Springfield, MO 65804.
