In loving Memory- Kevin Bradley Young

September 28th 1954 - August 31st 2025

Kevin Bradley Young, 70, of Springfield, Missouri, entered into eternal rest on August 31, 2025. Born on September 28, 1954, at St. John's Hospital in Springfield to Claude and Mary Young, Kevin grew up surrounded by a loving family, wide open spaces, and a deep appreciation for life's simple joys.

Kevin was preceded in death by his parents; his grandparents, Anthony & Clara Mall and Lawrence & Oma Young; and his brothers, Eric and Alan. He is survived by his sister Claudia and husband  Danny Hicks; his devoted wife, Linda; his son Chris and daughter-in-law Amber Young; his daughter Heather and her husband Joseph Foster; his 11 cherished grandchildren McKenzie, Wyatt, Brooklyn, Cale, Bella , Joseph Jr., Patrick, Lillian, Gabriel, Leo, and Juliet; and his great-granddaughter Sophia. He is also lovingly remembered by 16 nieces and 7 nephews, along with countless friends and extended family who were blessed to know him. His legacy of love and laughter will live on through them all.

After graduating from Hillcrest High School in 1972, Kevin proudly served his country as an Anti-Submarine Warfare Technician in the U.S. Navy with Squadron VP-40. When his service concluded, Kevin returned home and lived a life marked by hard work, creativity, and generosity. He worked over 20 years as a warehouseman at AWG and, alongside his wife, poured his entrepreneurial spirit into family businesses including Wivenhoe, LK Enterprises, Winemarkers Market, and Creative Spirits. He also founded Young Construction Company with his family and served on the board of Rising Sun.

Kevin's roots ran deep in Springfield, though some of his fondest memories were on the Marshfield farm with his grandparents. He shared his father's love of horses, cherished time outdoors, and could always be found with his siblings. He loved his time with them.

If you met Kevin you never forgot it because he never met a stranger, and made friends everywhere he went. Those who knew him well will remember him as the family's real-life MacGyver—the handiest man around, always ready to fix, build, or invent. Either of his kids will tell ya "if you wanna know what my Dad was like just watch the Red Green show"  With his mischievous humor and big laugh, he could light up any room. He loved his family fiercely—whether as a husband, dad, grandpa, brother, uncle, or cousin, or a friend who inevitably became family he was always the one you could call.

Kevin was always looking for a new adventure to take on. He built and raced RC cars with his wife and kids, enjoyed fishing, camping, hiking, and floating, and loved a good poker game. Wouldn't miss one if he could help it! He spent years on bowling and pool leagues, loved live music, and never passed up a chance to celebrate with family and friends.

His Catholic faith was a cornerstone of his life. Baptized at Holy Trinity, he served as an altar boy at both Holy Trinity and Sacred Heart—the church where he later married Linda and raised his children. He was a lifetime member of VFW Post 3404, a 4th Degree Knight with Knights of Columbus Council #698, a faithful blood donor, and a regular contributor to Locks of Love. He was honored to be on the very first Honor Flight of the Ozarks and was a member of Pershing's Pathfinders.

To say Kevin lived a full life would be an understatement. He carried a light so bright that even now, after his passing, its glow remains. His love, laughter, and steadfast presence will continue to shine in the hearts of those who knew him.
