IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Kerry
Erwin
July 5, 1969 – July 25, 2017
Kerry Michael Erwin was born July 5, 1969, in Springfield, Missouri. On July 25, 2017, he passed away in his home. He served as a SPC M1 Armor Crewman in the United States Army. He was awarded the Army Service Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal, Army Lapel Button, Southwest Asia Service Medal with 3 Bronze Service Stars, Kuwait Liberation Medal, Overseas Service Ribbon, Army Achievement Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Driver and Mechanic Badge, Expert Badge (Pistol), Sharpshooter Badge (Grenade), and NCO Professional Development Ribbon.
Above all, Kerry loved his son. He also loved his Harley Davidson and took part in many charity rides and motorcycle rallies. He was an avid gamer and also enjoyed watching and supporting video game streamers who hosted several livestream charity events. Kerry enjoyed spending countless hours playing these games with his son. They were some of his happiest moments of his life.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, George Erwin and Lawanna Swofford Erwin; maternal grandparents, Willard "Edward" Ayres and Mary Bowling Ayres; maternal aunt, Donna Aldridge Ayres; and his beloved service dog, Tasha.
He is survived by his son, Jayson Erwin (and fiancé, Chris Nelson); granddaughter; Kirra Maddison Taylor Erwin; father, Mike Erwin (stepmother, Pat Davenport Erwin); mother, Retha Ayres Bateman (stepfather, Junior Bateman); sister, Kathy Erwin Bollar (brother-in-law, Adam Bollar; niece, Taylor Grace Bollar); stepsister, Shawna Hohlt; brother, Michael Erwin (and wife, Ruby Bridges Erwin). He has many additional family members, including aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and more. We could go on and on, as is the case with many families. All are beloved and cherished.
Graveside services will be held at Missouri Veterans Cemetery on Wednesday, August 2, 2017, at 11 am with Pastor Jeremy Johnson officiating, under the direction of Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home. No visitation is scheduled.
