Ken Williams, 76, Springfield, MO, was born April 28, 1940, in Rolla, MO, to Floyd and Madge (Gibson) Williams. He died at 8:00 PM, Saturday, November 6, 2016, at the Manor at Elfindale, Springfield, MO. He graduated from Rolla High School in 1958 and worked as a salesman at Williams Shoe Store in Rolla, and in the shoe department at Heer's on the square in Springfield.
He spent his career working in claims management for Ollis & Company Insurance Agency and attended Jefferson Avenue Baptist Church, Spfd. He was a sports enthusiast and rooted for the Cardinals, Chiefs, and the Missouri State Bears men's basketball team. Dining out with friends and listening to music were favorite pastimes. From his childhood dog, Skippy, to his last beloved dog, Shorty, and cats, Chester and Boots, he displayed a tremendous love for animals. He passed this love for animals to his daughter and was very proud of her work with SAAF Spay Neuter Clinic. He was a great father, uncle, and friend.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Juanita (Williams) Overall, Florissant, MO. He is survived by his brother, Jim Williams, Rolla, MO; two nieces: Yvette (Williams) Hasenleder and her husband, Daryl, Overland Park, KS, and Jamie (Williams) Sturgeon and her husband, John, Rolla, MO; his daughters, Stacy Williams, Springfield, MO, and Stephanie Smart, Mission, KS; grandson Harper; and five great nieces and nephews: Paige, Joshua, Caleb, Ruth, and Naomi.
Visitation will be from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM Friday, November 11 at
Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, November 12 at Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to Springfield Animal Advocacy Foundation, TNR Fund, 1600 N. Washington Ave Springfield, MO 65803.
