Kenneth Hutchinson Reid, Springfield, MO, passed away peacefully Thursday, January 07, 2016. Kenneth was born January 20, 1923 to Claude and Bernice Reid of Aurora, MO. He graduated as valedictorian of his Aurora High School Class of 1940 and enrolled that fall at the University of Missouri. In 1942, Kenneth put his studies on hold to do what his generation did, serve his country.
During World War II, Kenneth served as an Army officer in a Field Artillery Battalion in Europe. When the war ended, he spent a year with an Army unit that organized and operated a leave center for Allied Forces in Germany known as the Berchtesgaden Recreation Area.

He thereafter was a founding partner in the law firm now known as Turner, Reid, Duncan, Loomer and Patton. He continued in that firm the entirety of his career.
Always active in Bar activities, Kenneth served at various times as President of the Greene County Bar Association (now the Springfield Metropolitan Bar), as Chairman of the Civil Practice Committee of the Missouri Bar Association and as a member of the Missouri Supreme Court Committee on Jury Instructions. In addition to membership in numerous Bar organizations, Kenneth was a Fellow in the American College of Trial Lawyers. In 2009, he was honored by the Springfield Metropolitan Bar Association with their annual Distinguished Attorney Award. He was a member of First and Calvary Presbyterian Church and a charter member of Twin Oaks Country Club.
Kenneth was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Jeannette. He is survived by son David Reid and friend Marla Marshall of Springfield, daughter Sally Cox and husband Ken of Coppell, TX, daughter Diane Orth and husband Neil of Kansas City, MO, grandchildren Melanie Cox Nuckolls and husband Michael of Frisco, TX, Nicole Reid Kamprath and husband Richard of Dallas, TX, Derek Etheridge of Kansas City, MO, Jarrod Cox of Dallas, TX, Courtney Reid Brockmeier and husband Joe of St. Peters, MO, Megan Etheridge Pudenz and husband Tyler of Liberty, MO, Danielle Reid of Nashville, TN and two great grandchildren, Reid Kamprath and Parker Nuckolls. Kenneth also has two surviving cousins, Rosemary Finney and Mary Margaret Thompson of Springfield.
Respected for his work ethic and integrity, he was loved by many as a husband, father, grandfather (O'pa), partner, employer and friend. We loved him dearly and will miss him. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate any memorial contributions be made to Help Give Hope, 2733 E. Battlefield, Springfield MO 65804. The family would also like to thank the staffs at Ravenwood Assisted Living and Intrepid Hospice for their compassionate care of our beloved patriarch.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM, Friday, January 15th at Gorman-Scharpf Brentwood Chapel, conducted by Dr. Andrew Chaney of First and Calvary Presbyterian Church. A private burial with full military honors will follow at Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Springfield.
