Kenneth Norbert
Osredker, Sr.
February 2, 1932 – March 24, 2021
Kenneth Norbert Osredker (Sr.) passed away March 24, 2021 at the age of 89. He was born February 2, 1932, in Marshfield, Missouri, the second child of Anthony Bonaventure Osredker and Lillian Love (Reynolds) Osredker. Ken grew up in Marshfield and graduated from Marshfield high school in 1950.
He went to work for the Marshfield Mail newspaper and then worked for the Springfield News-Leader for 37 years. He married Anna (Ann) Pearl Hall on July 12, 1952, and they made their home in Springfield where they enjoyed over 68 years together. Ken served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. After retiring from the Springfield News-Leader, Ken and Ann took a vacation out west where they visited several national parks and landmarks such as Yellowstone National Park, Bryce Canyon, Zion National Park, the Grand Canyon, and the Cliff Dwellings of the Anasazi. During retirement, he also drove a shuttle bus for Fisk Limousine around the MSU campus.
Ken and his brother, Danny, started trout fishing at Bennett Springs in the 1950s. Ken taught his passion for trout fishing to his four sons. He and Ann enjoyed going to Table Rock Lake and built the family cabin at Buttermilk Springs. Along with fishing, he enjoyed golfing, metal detecting, playing Scrabble, listening to music, western movies, and was a Kansas City Chiefs fan.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Mary Ann (Osredker) Derrick and brother, Danny Joe Osredker, and his good friend, Kenneth Skaggs. He is survived by his wife, Ann, his sons: Kenny (Susan) of Junction City, OR, Mike (Mary Beth), Gary (Deborah), Tim (Kathy), and one daughter, Deborah (Jerry), all of Springfield, MO, and grandchildren Patrick, Kari, Nicholas, Alexandria, Andrew, John, Kyle, Casey, Allison and five great-grandchildren.
The family wishes to thank management and staff at the Cambridge senior living community, where Ken and Ann lived for the past 3 ½ years, especially Sarah and Will who took a personal interest in their happiness; and Terrace Hospice for their exemplary care and support of Ken and his family.
Visitation will be held on March 30, 2021at 10:00 AM followed by a funeral Mass at 11:00 AM at Immaculate Conception Church in Springfield with interment at Resurrection Cemetery with full military honors under the care of Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home. Due to COVID-19, face masks are required and appropriate social distancing should be maintained.
