Kenneth Earl Messick, 60, Springfield, passed away at 4:30 p.m., Saturday, August 13, 2011 in Springfield, after suffering a sudden heart attack. He worked as a land surveyer and was an avid softball player and sports fan. Ken was a member of Springfield Community Church of the Nazarene, 2616 E. Battlefield, Springfield. He is survived by a son, Josh and daughter, Holly Messick of the home; his father and stepmother, Marion and Sharon Messick, Springfield; his mother, Lavonne Messick, Walker, MO; numerous family and friends who loved him also survive. He will be missed by all who knew him. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, August 18, 2011 in Springfield Community Church under the direction of Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Mt. Vernon Cemetery in Walker, Vernon County, Missouri. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday in the funeral home.
