Obituary

Keith William Kollmeyer, 68 passed away Thursday, July 18, 2024. He was born December 3, 1955, in Springfield, MO to Carl H. Kollmeyer and Evelyn (Haubein) Kollmeyer. Keith remained a lifelong resident of Springfield, and attended Bingham Elementary, Hickory Hills Jr. High and graduated from Central High School in 1973. After graduation, Keith attended Southwest Missouri State University where he studied, Accounting, Business and Finance. Keith began his working career at Commerce Bank in 1976, later retiring from Great Southern Bank in December of 2020 after 45 years in the commercial banking industry. During his career he was involved in numerous banking conversions, events and seminars. Keith was united in marriage to the love of his life, Terry L. Kollmeyer, in 1981, and they shared 42 years together before his passing.  After retirement, Keith's passions were his wife, family, friends and numerous projects at their home. He loved to keep busy and loved to work in his yard. Keith was a devoted husband to Terry and had a great eye for beautiful antiques and antique glassware. Keith and Terry traveled throughout their marriage, seeing places such as the Bahamas, Caribbean, Mexico, Jamaica, Nashville, and their latest trip to Oahu, Hawaii for their 40th wedding anniversary in 2022. Keith stated he was still working on his bucket list!  Keith was a friend to many and cared deeply for his friends. He loved his family dearly, as well as friends, former co-workers and neighbors. Keith was preceded in death by his mother, Evelyn, father, Carl, brothers, Carl, Richard, James, sister Karen, his mother-in-law, Barbara L. (Gibson) Buff and former brother-in-law, Bob Williams. Keith is survived by his wife Terry, and their cat Ruby. Also surviving Keith are his sister Pam McKinnis and husband Rick, two nieces and their spouses, Bobbi Brown and Randy, Nicole Hedrick and Joey and one nephew Brad Williams and fiancée Natalie MacDonald. Also surviving Keith are one great-nephew, Cory Brown and wife Kelsey, two great-nieces: Paige Wunder and husband Matt, and Eva Hedrick; as well as three great-great nephews: Cooper and Kash Brown and Liam Wunder and one great-great niece, Charleigh Jo Wunder.  Keith loved all of his fur babies that he and Terry had throughout their marriage. Keith was known for his dry wit and quick sense of humor, always having a smile for everyone. He liked meeting friends for lunch and enjoyed going to his favorite casinos in the area and playing the lottery.  Private family graveside services will be held at Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Meinert, MO, Tuesday, August 6, 2024, in the afternoon. A Celebration of Life in Keith's honor will be at a later date.
