Kathleen Beth "Kathy" Valdemar, of Springfield, Missouri, passed away peacefully on December 22, 2025, at the age of 56. She was born on May 1, 1969, in Goodland, Kansas, the daughter of Art and Mabel Valdemar.

Kathy mainly grew up in Springfield and graduated from Kickapoo High School. She earned a degree in Computer Information Systems from Missouri State University (SMSU) and later pursued a Management Institute MBA.

Kathy started her career in computer programming, then, encouraged by a friend, successfully transitioned into the commercial insurance industry, where she built a lifelong career. She initially worked as an independent agent and later on the carrier side, taking on roles in underwriting and marketing while partnering with agents across Missouri and surrounding states. Known by colleagues as a passionate and polished professional, Kathy also brought warmth and humor that stayed with people long after they met her.

Kathy was actively involved with Rotaract of Springfield, the Rotary Club of Springfield Sunrise, and Leadership Springfield Class XXII.

Kathy is survived by her mother, Mabel Valdemar of Springfield, Missouri; her nephew, Matt Torres of Herndon, Virginia; her great-nephew, Owen Torres of Herndon, Virginia; her aunt, Flora Longoria of Bryan, Texas; and numerous cousins on both sides of the family.

She was preceded in death by her beloved father, Art Valdemar, her half-brother Robert Torres, and many other loving family members.

A visitation will be held Friday, January 23, 2026, from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m., followed by a memorial service from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m., at Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home, 1947 E. Seminole Street, Springfield, MO 65804. Following the memorial service, family and friends are invited to gather at 5:00 p.m. for a Celebration of Life at Schultz & Dooley's, 2210 W Chesterfield St #8683, Springfield, MO 65807, to honor Kathy's memory and share stories.
