Kathryn "Katie" Witherspoon was born November 7, 1924 to Harry Edward Corbus and Lela Ritchey Corbus in Cardin, Oklahoma. She passed away March 30, 2015 from complications of a stroke she had 3 days earlier. She was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Tommy and her son-in-law Bill, whom she loved as her son. She and Bill had a very special relationship. She is survived by her son John and his wife Fran, whom she loved as her own daughter and was fortunate enough to have Fran love her back as much. She is also survived by her daughters Linda and Karen. She had so many friends that made such a difference in her life as she did theirs. Just to mention a few, Ruthie, Dyke, Pat and Libby, Beverly, Cynthia and Pat, Becky C., Debbie, Andress and Lisa, their children and grandchildren, Kitties and Doggies. Our mom was the kindest, sweetest and most generous person that we have ever known. She never had an unkind word to say about anyone. If you were blessed to know her, you know she cared about you. She was a blessing in all of our lives. She was President of P.T.A. in all the schools her children attended. She was very involved in Boy Scouts, Camp Fire Girls- being a leader for 12 years. She was a very active volunteer with March of Dimes and taught Sunday School class at Campbell Avenue Methodist Church. She went to work at Smith-Glynn Callaway Clinic after her children were out of school. In her 25 years there, she made many lifelong friends. Her family was fortunate to have her come to work with them at Town and Country Flowers and Collectibles for the next 25 years. She made many new friends and enjoyed their visits. You may pay your respects at Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home Saturday and Sunday. Services will be at 3 p.m., Monday, April 6, 2015 in the funeral home.
