Kathryn "Kate" L. Ragsdale, 65, Springfield passed away at 1:00 p.m. August 14, 2011 in Springfield. Kate was born February 7, 1946 and was a longtime resident of the area. She graduated from Parkview and from Southwest Missouri State and earned her MSW from the University of Missouri. She was a member of the National Association of Nephrology Social Workers. She is survived by two sons, Blair and his wife Alicia, Kansas City and Jeffrey of Springfield; three granddaughters, Ashley, Baton Rouge, Jessica and Kaitlyn, Kansas City; sister, Melinda Faudskar, Tillamook, OR; and a brother, Samuel Adams, Springfield. She retired from social work, which was an important part of her life, as well as her three granddaughters and her two dogs, Sophie and Daphne. Visitation will be held Monday, August 22 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Castaway Animal Rescue Effort, 1328 A W.
