Kathryn Penninger Obituary

Kathryn Louise Penninger, age 71, of Springfield, Missouri, passed away peacefully at 2:53 p.m. on November 11, 2024, in Springfield, Missouri, surrounded by family and friends.

Kathy was born March 14, 1953, in St. John's Hospital, Springfield, Missouri, to Joseph Henry May and Shirley May. Kathy graduated from Glendale High School in 1971. Kathy worked in a women's shelter in Bethel, Alaska. She took courses at Drury University before graduating from Cox School of Nursing. She received her nursing license in 1990 then worked as an R.N. at Cox Health Systems, Lakeland Behavioral Health System and Mercy Hospital until she retired in 2018.

Kathy was a kind, gentle and loving person who enjoyed spending time with family, friends and her pets.

Kathy was preceded in death by her father, Joseph Henry May.

Kathy is survived by her husband, William Holt Penninger, Jr., her mother, Shirley May, her brothers, Kirk May, and Kary May, her sister, Kelly Overby, and by her children, Marcus Kaniowski, Jade Hayter, Brent Kaniowski, Kim Jackson, William Holt Penninger, III, and Una Lee Penninger, and her grandchildren, Derek Kaniowski, Hayden Kaniowski, Scarlett Regions, Henry Regions, Rose Regions, Pearce Hayter, Beckham Hayter, Banks Hayter, Coco Jackson, Vincent Bernini Jackson, Tessa Penninger, Wren Penninger, Elliott Penninger and Kai Penninger.
