Obituary

Kathryn Lois (Hanna) Stoke, 78, died peacefully in her home on September 23, surrounded by her children. She was born on February 15, 1941 in Yuma, Colorado. Kathryn attended Central Missouri State University where she earned a degree in secondary education. She began her career as a teacher before eventually settling into social work as the director of elder care programs for the Council of Churches of the Ozarks.

Kathryn is preceded in death by her parents, Wade Hanna and Opal (Hoch) Hanna, and her brothers: Abe, Dale, David, and Johnny. She is survived by her daughter, Mary Elizabeth Hunter and her husband, Bill Hunter; son, Timothy Stoke; and son, Christopher Stoke and his partner, Jennifer Herndon.

Mama Stoke, as she was known to her children and many "adopted" children, had one of the greatest souls and a loving heart. We were all lucky that we were able to call her mom. As an ardent supporter of her children, she rarely missed a concert, game, performance, or show. She couldn't resist cuddling and spoiling her "grand dogs." Her hand was often extended to help others, and she taught those around her to be generous of spirit. She was always ready with a joke and a smile to make everyone laugh. Her warm spirit will never be forgotten.

Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, November 2, 2019 in Christ Episcopal Church.  Times will be announced soon.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Council of Churches of the Ozarks, Springfield, MO or San Angelo YMCA, San Angelo, TX.
