Kathryn Anne Baldi, known to all as "Kate," passed away peacefully on February 2, 2025, in Springfield, Missouri, at the age of 81. Born on January 12, 1944, Kate was lifelong resident of Springfield graduating from Parkview High School and Drury College where she represented Zeta Tau Alpha. Kate dedicated her life to protecting and advocating for children, leaving a lasting mark on her community.
A lifelong champion for the most vulnerable, Kate spent her career working for the State of Missouri in Children's Services, where she ensured the safety and well-being of countless children. She was a founding board member of the Child Advocacy Center, helping to create a vital resource for children in crisis. Even in retirement, Kate continued serving families through her work with the Council of Churches where she was instrumental with Ambassadors for Children. The mission of Ambassadors for Children is to restore dignity to all local youth in foster care assisting with adoption and foster services and helping to create loving homes for children in need.
Kate's compassion and dedication were matched only by the love she had for her family. She is survived by her children: Gene Baldi and his wife, Jennifer Muzinic; Allison Musgrave her husband, Mack Musgrave, and her sons, Bennett Derossett and Simon Derossett; and Ellen Hammock and her husband, Jeff Hammock, along with their daughter, Kathryn Hammock. Her family was her greatest joy, and she took immense pride in their lives and accomplishments.
Kate was the daughter of Hap and Kathryn Kinloch and the beloved younger sister of Bob Kinloch and the late John Kinloch, who passed away in March of 2020.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, February 8, 2025, from 10:00 to 11:00 AM, followed by a service at Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home, 1947 East Seminole Street, Springfield, MO 65804. Family and friends are invited to gather and honor Kate's remarkable life and legacy.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Child Advocacy Center, ensuring that Kate's lifelong mission continues to help children for years to come.
