IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Karen
Alberty
February 26, 1947 – March 4, 2025
Karen Alberty age, 78 of Springfield, Missouri passed away at 10:38 PM Tuesday, March 4, 2025 peacefully at her home. Karen was a wife, mother, sister, aunt, nana, cousin, but most of all...a special friend. Her most precious treasure was her family. She was born the daughter of Ervin Anthony Witting and Olivia Joyce Witting (Jones) in Detroit, Michigan and is the oldest of 2 sisters and a brother. At the age of 21, she married Ron Alberty and stayed by his side for 56 years. They dedicated their lives to their 3 children, and she will be remembered for how proud she was of each one of them. Her other treasure in life was her "coffee girls". For over 50 years, Karen met with 5 other ladies every Tuesday morning for coffee. This special bond was so important to her life and a true definition of friendship.
As a young adult, Karen worked at St. John's Hospital in the Cardiac Cath lab for many years. After she retired, she loved to travel to Downstream to play the slot machines. We were all amazed at her "lady luck".
Karen's true passion was spending countless hours watching over her beloved grandchildren while her kids worked. She showed her family how to be the perfect Nana, and she set the bar high for her future generations.
Karen never once complained about her cancer and showed all us how to never give up on hope. She will be remembered for how much she cared for others.
Karen was preceded in death by her parents, niece Aileen Stein and brother-in-law Larry Alberty. She was survived by her husband Ron Alberty, son Byron (Dawn) Alberty of Anaheim, CA; son Ryan (Missy) Alberty of Springfield, MO; and daughter Amber Alberty of Springfield, MO; sister Jill Stein, brother Jeff (Linda) Witting, and sister Stacey (Jim) Wagner. Grandkids: Lucas, Mariah, Ellie, Sam and Kaia Alberty, nieces and nephews: Tina, Dean, Jaime, Samantha, Jessica, Chris, Carrie, Nicky, Jimmy, and Kelly, and sister-in-law Carol Alberty.
We want to thank Dr. Ellis and Candy for their years of care of Karen. We also want to thank the amazing team at St. Croix Hospice: Brooke, Shannon, Cindy, Rachel, Craig, Sheila, and Indy. Finally, we want to thank our friends at Gorman-Scharpf for the love and respect for Karen.
A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, March 9, 2025 at 4:00 PM in Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home with visitation to follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society at www.cancer.org .
