June Burgess, 78, of Springfield, passed away on Saturday, July 25, 2009, in Cox South Hospital. She was born on August 15, 1930, in the back of Marrs Market in the living quarters of the family store. She married Beryl on September 9, 1948, in Drury's Stone Chapel. June was an executive secretary at Lewallen Advertising Company for over 30 years, retiring in 1985. June and Beryl spent a lot of their time at their lake home after their retirement. June was preceded in death by her parents, Ray and Ruby Marrs; children, Susan and Stephen; brother Jerry Marrs; and sister, Jane Hasley. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Beryl Burgess; daughter Patricia Woods and husband, Gayle; sister-in-law Betty Marrs, all of Springfield; grandchildren, Angela Woods of Springfield, Jeffery Burgess, of Highlandville, and Tom Burgess of Mesa, Arizona; great-grandchildren, Ethan Mace and Ben Medcalf, both of Springfield, Mo. Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, July 28, 2009, in Hazelwood Cemetery, under the care of Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. this evening, in the funeral home.
