The world lost one of its sweetest souls on December 19, 2020. Julie Anna Hawkins Kohr, daughter of Max and Lucianna Hawkins, was born on March 13, 1945.  She is survived by her devoted husband of 50 years, Michael Kohr; daughter, Molly Crider and her husband Wes; grandchildren, Melanie, Max and Maggie Crider; son Andrew and his wife Jenny; brother Jim Hawkins and his wife Polly; and three nieces, Laura Key and her husband Brett, Lynn Hokanson and her husband Dave, Leah Smith and her husband Sean.

Julie graduated from Parkview High School in 1963 and from Southwest Missouri State University in 1967, Magna Cum Laude with a double major in Spanish and Latin.   She was an avid golfer, representing Springfield on the Horton Smith Golf Team.  Julie taught Latin and Spanish at Glendale High School in the late 1960s before leaving to raise her children.  She was a member of the viola section of the Springfield Symphony Orchestra for 50 years.  Julie lived a life of strong Christian faith and teaching.  She mentored students learning Spanish, Latin, classical music and kindness. Her greatest accomplishment, however, was being an amazing mother and Nana to her three grandchildren. Her back door was always open, and she had a pitcher of sweet tea ready for a conversation exactly when needed.
