Ella Julie Nixon was born to George and Gladys Nixon on June 25, 1925, in Springfield, Missouri. She was one of three children, she, her brother George and Patti grew up on the farm in rural Springfield. She attended Drury College and Graduated then Married Jewell Windle 11. Together they operated the Windle Lohmeyer Funeral home on St louis street for years. She gave birth to Beverly and Jewell 111 and raised them in the Brentwood subdivision.
Later in life, she married Bob Adams and lived by the James River in Christian County. This was her home for the last years of her life and she loved this place.
Julie was very active in local civic and social work, having been Chairman of the local March of Dimes and a 75-year member of the PEO organization.
Professionally, she was a former member of the Missouri State Board of Embalming and served as a president.
She is survived by her son, Jewell Windle 111 and her daughter, Beverly Schroeder, her grandson, Travis Windle, granddaughter Margaret Stambaugh and her sister-in-law, Winifred Nixon. She was preceded in death by her brother, George Nixon and her sister Pattie Dunlap.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, February 11, 2026 in Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM Tuesday in the funeral home.
