Obituary

Juliana ("Juli") Covington Moseley, age 64, passed away on January 23, 2024. She was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma on November 3, 1959 to Dr. Terrell Covington Jr. and Adriana Sisco Covington. After the passing of her mother when Juli was still a child, Juli's father married Nancy Findley Covington who lovingly raised Juli. Juli then went on to obtain a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from Texas Christian University, where she was an active member of the Chi Omega Sorority.  While working together in Dallas, Juli met Frederick Thomas ("Tad") Moseley Jr., and they were married in Tulsa in 1984. Juli and Tad moved back to Springfield, Missouri, Tad's hometown, where Juli completed a Master's degree in Religious Studies at Southwest Missouri State University (now Missouri State University). On March 10, 1990, Juli gave birth to twin daughters, Emily and Anna.

Over the next decades, Juli spent her life selflessly giving her time to her friends, family, and community. She worked for several years for the American Bible Society and more recently with MLinc Solutions. She volunteered countless hours with the Springfield Public Schools (serving as President of the SPS Foundation), Junior League of Springfield, First and Calvary Presbyterian Church, Springfield-Greene County Library (serving as President of the Library Foundation), Springfield Ballet Guild, and many other local volunteer organizations.  She was known for being a devoted and caring friend and a selfless giver to others.

In the past year, Juli was ecstatic to welcome her first grandson, Ellis, and granddaughter, Maya, and she showered them with unending love.

Juli will be deeply missed by her family and friends in Springfield, Tulsa, and all across the country. She was preceded in death by her mother Adriana Sisco Covington, father Dr. Terrell Covington Jr. and sister, Adriana Covington. She is survived by her husband, Frederick Thomas ("Tad") Moseley Jr, her children Dr. Anna Moseley Vanatta (Lorne) and Dr. Emily Moseley Weisel (Daniel), her grandchildren Ellis Griffin Vanatta and Maya Adriana Weisel, her mother Rev. Nancy F. Covington, her sisters Patricia Pesci (Michael) and Shelley Cooper (Tom), brothers Dr. Christopher Covington (Gina), Terrell Stuart Covington and Kevin Covington, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews, all of whom Juli adored.

A Celebration of Juli's Life has been scheduled for February 3rd, 2024 at 2:00pm at Schweitzer Church on 2747 East Sunshine Street, Springfield, Missouri, 65804. A visitation will follow at the church.
