Judith Allen Simpson, 73, of Springfield went home to be with the Lord in the early morning hours of Saturday, April 14, 2012. Death resulted from complications of diabetes. Judy was born October 3, 1938 in Paducah, Kentucky. She was preceded in death by her mother, Marjorie Tisdale and her father, Paul Tisdale. She is survived by her devoted husband of 54 years, Robert E. Simpson; three children, Sandra Simpson Everett and husband Tom, Rebecca Simpson Ellis and husband Casey and Scott Robert Simpson and wife Tracy; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and one sister, Phyllis Walwer and husband Roland of Peoria, Illinois. For Judy, each day was a labor of love. She was a woman who faced life's many challenges with grace and dignity and was an inspiration to those with whom she worked and worshipped. As a wife and mother she brought the blessings of joy and hope to her family through her genuine faith and remarkable ability to keep things in perspective and to endure with patience. No visitation is planned. A memorial service, celebrating the life of this delightful woman, will be held on Friday, April 20, 2012 at 10 a.m. in First and Calvary Presbyterian Church, under the care of Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, or to United Presbyterian Women, c/o First and Calvary Presbyterian Church.
