Obituary

Judith Ann (Butcher) Jones went to be with the Lord peacefully in her sleep early March 17, 2019. While we are deeply saddened, we find grace and comfort in knowing she will be reunited with her parents, Thelma and Roy, her granddaughter Chloe, and her best friend Deann Spry.

Judy was born October 16, 1947 in Gassaway, West Virginia to Thelma and Roy Butcher. She, along with her two brothers Benny and Sam, grew up in a small coal mining town in the beautiful hills of Widen, West Virginia. Judy graduated high school and followed her passion of helping others towards a career in nursing. Most of her time in nursing was spent with McCune Brooks Hospital in Carthage, Missouri. Her compassion and care for others led to many lifelong friendships.

When asked to describe Judy, people would invariably say she was one of kind. She was quick with a joke, loved to laugh, pull enormous pranks with her side kick Aunt Deann, always up for a game of bingo, and if she ever bought anything it was always "On Sale." She loved to crochet, do crafts, and work with her plants. Her biggest love was spending time with her grandchildren.

Judith is survived by her two sons, Josh Butcher and Joey Spry; daughter-in-law, Shannon Butcher; grandson, Jacob Butcher, brothers Benny and Sam Butcher, sisters-in-law Sue and Loita Butcher, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Special thanks are given to Melanie Spry who assisted greatly in her care for the past couple of years.

Visitation will be held from 2:00 – 3:00 PM on Sunday, March 24, 2019 at Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home, 1947 E Seminole, Springfield, MO 65804.
